Blogger Lercek continues to fight cancer. What is known
The ex-husband of blogger Valeria Chekalina, known as Lercek, said that the children find it difficult to bear the news about their mother's illness. According to Artem Chekalin, their daughter asks him frightening questions about the possible outcome of the disease. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
Children's experiences
Chekalin said that his daughter reacts to the situation with her mother extremely emotionally.
"My daughter says, 'Dad, is mom dying?' When she told me that for the first time, I cried a little myself, because it's all hard," Chekalin shared with the Izvestia correspondent.
Artyom added that he has been preparing for court sessions for days — there have been six of them in the last two weeks. In addition, Chekalin does sports every day, and when Lercek leaves for the hospital, he takes over the upbringing of the children.
Lercek's health status
Lercek is undergoing treatment for stage four stomach cancer. According to her lover Luis Squicciarini, the medical course is divided into nine stages, some of which have already been completed. Due to the illness, the blogger has practically lost sight in one eye, has difficulty moving and is faced with hair loss — she has to use a wig. A venous port was installed in the neck area to perform regular procedures and administer medications to the patient.
Despite her physical weakness and grueling chemotherapy sessions, Chekalina remains optimistic and continues to communicate with subscribers.
"I love this life very much and I will definitely live by your prayers," the blogger addressed her audience.
Squicciarini posted a video on Instagram (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) showing Chekalina in pajamas and without makeup rocking a one-month-old baby. The footage shows that the blogger's face has become haggard.
"Now we are all rallying so that Lera gets well. We feel your support, thank you for your prayers and believe in the best. Live, my Lera. She is very strong, the strongest woman I have ever met," wrote Squicciarini.
Access to medical care during the investigation period
The issue of the timeliness of Chekalina's treatment during the investigative actions caused controversy. Lawyer Ekaterina Gordon stated that she had personally seen the blogger's petitions for referral to a specialized center due to unbearable pain, and stressed that she was helping her free of charge. Lawyer Elena Ponomareva holds a different position. According to her, the right to treatment was not limited, and the investigation rejected only requests to visit private clinics.
"She was only denied access to commercial establishments, which, according to the investigation, could have some negative consequences for the investigation of the case," Ponomareva said.
Chekalina herself attributes the late detection of the disease to the fact that she could not get to the right specialists: according to her, there was no equipment in the state institutions of Istra to make an accurate diagnosis.
"All we found in Istra is a paramedic's office. But when I got there, there was just a table on the ground floor of this five-story building, and a paramedic was sitting behind it. They could measure the maximum temperature there. I didn't find any equipment that could help me there," she said.
Repayment of tax debt
The Moscow Arbitration Court has terminated the bankruptcy proceedings against Chekalina in connection with the full repayment of debts owed to the state. During the meeting, documents were submitted on the transfer of 176 million rubles, which covered the requirements of the tax service in the amount of 173 million rubles. The court heard information that the funds came from a third party, but Squicciarini denied this.
"The debt to the tax service has been repaid. It was repaid not by someone, but independently," he wrote on social networks.
Suspected simulation of Lercek's disease
There have been posts on social media questioning the severity of the blogger's condition. Blogger Inna Kombarova reported on the Telegram channel that her friend allegedly saw Chekalina training at the gym and in the sauna a few days before the latest news. The author of the publication expressed concern that such situations could damage the reputation of the healthcare system.
"I don't want to push it, but my friend caught Lercek in training three days ago. And here I am defending the healthcare system, which saves me and millions of people in our country. I would not like to see her denigrated," wrote Kombarova.
