Trump gave a long interview following the talks with Xi Jinping. The main thing
US President Donald Trump gave a long interview to Fox News during a state visit to China for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Read about the key statements of the head of the White House in the Izvestia article.
On relations with China
Trump said that China is showing interest in buying oil from the United States. He suggested that Xi Jinping buy oil from Texas, Louisiana and Alaska. In addition, it is reported that China will purchase a significant amount of American agricultural products, including soybeans.
"They agreed, they want to buy oil from the United States," the politician said.
During the talks, Trump supported the idea of increasing the presence of American businesses in China. He added that China is also investing hundreds of billions of dollars in American companies. During the trip, Trump is accompanied by representatives of major American technology companies, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook.
"China is going to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in the companies of the people who were in that room today. That's why they came," Trump said.
As the politician pointed out, China will gradually provide access to its market to American companies.
"They will open [the market] in stages. I would like them to be open," Trump said.
The head of the White House said that following his visit to China, the countries could conclude dozens of agreements.
Speaking about his Chinese counterpart, Trump said that the Chinese president is a sincere person who is determined to do concrete and productive work.
"Actually, I think he's a warm—hearted person, but at the same time he's completely focused on business: he immediately gets into work, no games, no conversations about how beautiful the weather is today or 'oh, let's look at the stars, let's look at the sun,'" Trump said.
At the same time, the politician, commenting on the accusations against China of stealing American intellectual property, said that the practice of technological espionage is mutual and that the United States uses similar methods against Beijing.
"And we're spying on them, too," Trump said.
About the military operation in the Middle East
As Trump stated, he gave Iran a choice: make a deal or be completely destroyed. However, the politician does not want the second option. According to the American president, he initially decided to stop attacks on Iranian territories solely due to requests from states that maintain good relations with Tehran.
"They can make a deal or they will be destroyed," Trump pointed out.
He added that the United States will receive enriched uranium, which is located in Iran. The alternative, according to Trump, is to bury this uranium on the territory of the Islamic Republic, but under the supervision of the American side.
"I would feel more comfortable getting it, and we will get it," the White House host said.
On possible cooperation with China on the Iranian issue
As Trump pointed out, China could exert influence on Iran as part of the settlement of the conflict between the Islamic Republic and the United States. The politician stressed that Beijing, in his opinion, supports Washington's position and is not interested in Tehran acquiring nuclear weapons.
"I think China doesn't want Iran to get nuclear weapons either," Trump said.
