The current warming in Moscow is a major anomaly, meteorologists told Izvestia. The weather in Central Russia is now more than a month behind its climatic schedule, it is getting warmer in Siberia, and 17-20 degrees are confidently holding in the south of the country. At the same time, there was snow and rain in the Urals and the Far East, which caused numerous accidents. About how motorists have prepared for winter in these regions and when the "tinker's day" will come in the center of Russia — in the Izvestia article.

November Spring

Comfortable weather and warming from +8 to +10 degrees await Moscow throughout the first decade of November 2025, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia.

In the Moscow region, it is expected from +5 to +10 degrees. A fairly warm and pleasant westerly wind will remain. There will even be a feeling that spring is returning to us," the expert noted.

According to her, the nights in the first decade of November will be quite warm and cloudy, with no significant precipitation. In Moscow and the region, the temperature at night will remain within +5...+7 degrees, and on Saturday, November 8, it may reach +6...+8 degrees.

Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, called the warming in Moscow the strongest anomaly. According to him, the weather in early November 2025 is more than a month behind the climatic schedule.

"On Tuesday, November 4, the temperature in Moscow was the same as it usually is in early October," he told Izvestia. — You can compare this with the April weather. The average daily temperature on November 4 was +8.8 degrees, 7-8 degrees above normal.

As Roman Vilfand explained, the temperature rise in Central Russia is due to the fact that warm air masses are moving across the Atlantic from the Mediterranean Sea.

— After the precipitation that fell on November 4, the pressure increased sharply, the sky cleared of clouds. The underlying surface was cooled in a cloudless sky. The soil easily released the accumulated heat. The surface air layer was also cooling, which led to thick fogs in Moscow and the region on the morning of November 5. Cloudy weather is expected by the end of this week, and there will be no fogs," he said.

Roman Vilfand predicts that temperatures will be very high throughout the first decade of November for the last month of autumn. During the day, the air can warm up to +10 degrees on average, and on Saturday, November 8, to +11 degrees. On Sunday, November 9, it is expected to reach 9 degrees Celsius, which is 5 degrees above normal.

Extreme warming has engulfed the entire European part of Russia — in the last week the temperature there has been 5-6 degrees above normal, Roman Vilfand noted.

— The temperature in St. Petersburg is very high: until Saturday, November 8, it is expected from +8 to +10. In the south of Russia, the weather is comfortable +17...+20 degrees. In addition, by the end of this week, it will be significantly warmer in the Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk regions, and the Altai Territory," the meteorologist said.

At the same time, the processes when November begins with warm weather in Central Russia have become familiar in the 21st century — this is observed almost every second year, added Tatiana Pozdnyakova.

— But the heat rarely lasts longer than half a month. In most cases, by November 15, the temperature regime changes," she noted.

When will the meteorological winter come?

At the same time, the cold snap in the center of the country will be quite sharp. A significant decrease in temperature will begin on November 11 — in the afternoon it is expected from +2 to -3 degrees, said Roman Vilfand.

— This temperature is close to the climatic norm. The transition of average values through zero degrees, as a rule, falls on November 11-14. This usually happens gradually, but this year, due to abnormal warming, the temperature drop will be sharp. A "minus" is expected at night, a small snowfall may fall, but there will be no significant precipitation," the expert noted.

Temperatures in Moscow and the Moscow region will start to decrease from Tuesday, November 11, Tatyana Pozdnyakova confirmed. According to her, by the middle of the month, meteorological winter will come to the central part of Russia and the temperature will approach the climatic norm: from zero degrees to negative values.

— So far, a string of cyclones is bringing heat to the central part of Russia, but in the second decade of November, the processes will change. Cold Arctic air will flow with the northern streams. We can say that a meteorological winter will come to us in mid—November, when the average daily temperature steadily becomes negative," she said.

At the end of November, wet snow may cover Moscow and the region, which will contribute to the formation of the first snow cover.

— But, as a rule, it is not stable. Last year it snowed in November, then it melted, and we were afraid to be without snow by the New Year. Let's hope that this won't happen this year," said Tatiana Pozdnyakova.

Did the Russians have time to change the tires

While snow is only expected in Central Russia, it is already freezing in the coldest parts of the country. Heavy snowfalls have paralyzed traffic in the Urals and Tatarstan and taken even experienced drivers by surprise.

The number of terrible accidents in Yekaterinburg is growing by the hour. Due to the icy and snowy conditions, cars flew off the road and crashed into trees, lampposts and fences. One person is known to have died. The situation is even worse at the exit from the city, as three mass accidents involving trucks actually blocked the highway towards Tyumen. While the consequences were being eliminated, the traffic jam stretched for tens of kilometers.

In one of the districts of Tatarstan, seven cars collided at once, they were scattered along the roadway — many drivers had not yet had time to change their tires for winter tires.

There is no traffic now on the Ufa–Beloretsk highway section in Bashkiria. Due to a snowstorm and heavy ice, trucks stopped there and completely blocked the road in all lanes.

According to Meteonosti, the thermometer dropped to -40 degrees in Chukotka and Yakutia. In the Far East, a winter weather regime will be established in the first decade of November — snow and cold snap from -2 to -16 degrees are expected in different parts of the region at night, according to the website of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.

Heavy snowfall occurred in the Amur region on November 5, with up to 6 mm of precipitation. In the Tyumen, Sverdlovsk, Kurgan, Chelyabinsk regions and Perm Krai, sleet and ice conditions are expected in early November.

Since the beginning of November, mass accidents, including fatal ones, have been reported in the Amur region, Penza, Tver, Irkutsk, Rostov, Yaroslavl and Novgorod regions.

Due to the weather conditions, the tire season started earlier than usual this year, the technical director of the Fit Service franchise network told Izvestia. The number of tire repair orders increased by 26% in September compared to last year, and by 10% year-on—year in October. The average receipt for a comprehensive tire service in October amounted to 7.1 thousand rubles, which increased by 9% compared to last year.

The active wheel-changing season in October took place in the Far Eastern, Northwestern, Siberian, Ural, and Southern Federal Districts. In other regions, the period of car preparation for winter in October has not yet reached its peak.

— In general, the autumn season differs from the spring season in its excitement and traditionally takes place in two waves: the first sharp surge in demand occurs when the first snow falls or the temperature drops to zero, the second — when drivers wait for the thaw after the first frost, — said Nikita Rodionov. — There is a smoother increase in the number of visits between these peaks, but most car owners still go for tire service during the peak period, so queues are often unavoidable.

As practice shows, about 10-20% of motorists delay the time to replace rubber and in the first days of a sharp cold snap, their cars are not ready for new weather conditions, confirmed Bulat Kilov, the founder of the Krytex car market company.

— Ideally, you need to change the tires immediately, when the night and morning temperatures, based on forecasts for 7-10 days, drop to 4-5 degrees, regardless of daytime temperatures, — he stressed. — But if a cold snap has set in, then the surest solution is to refuse to travel by private transport, especially in the morning and at night, as this is a matter of safety.

When it gets cold, summer tires lose their elasticity, which significantly impairs traction and creates risks for both the driver and other vehicles and pedestrians, he added.

If you need to get to the tire repair on summer tires yourself, you should move as carefully as possible, Tamashi auto expert Konstantin Ozhogin added.

"Slow down, keep an increased distance, avoid sharp turns and braking, turn off cruise control, and if possible, use the winter transmission mode or start in second gear," he said. — Even with careful driving, the braking distance on summer tires on snow can be almost twice as long as on winter tires. Therefore, the number one task is to change shoes as soon as possible, focusing on a steady decrease in temperature to +5... +7 ° C and the first stable frosts.

If a person finds himself driving on summer tires at the first snowfall, the most sensible thing is to leave the car and get to the place in another way, said Alexey Ivanov, owner of the Alliance Trucks commercial vehicle dealership network. But if a trip is unavoidable, the rules are strict.: the speed is no higher than 40-50 km/ h, the distance is three times longer than usual — about 9-12 seconds instead of the usual 2-3.

— No sudden movements of the steering wheel, braking only by the engine, and the brake pedal is the last thing, — said the expert. — Lane changes, overtaking and any maneuvers are completely excluded.

The first two weeks of winter are the most dangerous period, when drivers have not yet adapted, and the roads are covered with an insidious mixture of snow, ice and reagents, experts recalled.
