The central bank has not ruled out withdrawing cash from an ATM from a digital ruble account

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation plans to implement the possibility of withdrawing cash from ATMs directly from the digital ruble account in the future. This was announced on September 22 by Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Zulfiya Kakhrumanova during the autumn session of online lessons on financial literacy.

"Will it be possible to exchange digital rubles at an ATM for cash? The answer is Yes," she said during the Central Bank's broadcast on the "VKontakte" social network.

According to the deputy chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, digital rubles can now be exchanged for cash by transferring funds to a non-cash account in a mobile application, followed by withdrawing money from an ATM.

Kakhrumanova noted that one of the next tasks of the regulator will be to create the possibility of directly receiving cash from a digital ruble account through ATMs. This feature will be implemented in the subsequent stages of the digital currency development.

In August, Alla Bakina, director of the Department of the national payment system of the Bank of Russia, said that operations with the digital ruble would be free for citizens, and funds on the platform could be disposed of without restrictions.
