Kalashnikov will present a mock-up of the new AK-12+ assault rifle at the WEF
The Kalashnikov Concern will show the participants of the XI Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held from September 1 to 4, 2026 in Vladivostok, a mock-up of the new 5.45mm AK-12+ automatic rifle system with increased accuracy. This was announced on August 31 by the company's press service.
"The product will be displayed in the pavilion of the WARRIOR Center at the Far East Street exhibition," the Telegram channel said.
It is noted that the complex is being created for special units based on the AK-12 assault rifle and is currently being prepared for mass production.
The main objective of the project is to improve the accuracy of shooting. For this purpose, the machine is planned to be equipped with modern optoelectronic sighting systems, which will make it possible to more effectively hit targets at medium distances during the day and at night.
The design of the AK-12+ includes changes aimed at improving the characteristics of the weapon. In particular, it is planned to increase the thickness of the barrel wall, change the design of the gas chamber, install an elongated forearm and abandon the mounting elements for the bracket, grenade launcher and bayonet.
In addition, the new model will receive a thread on the muzzle of the barrel for the installation of interchangeable devices — a flame arrestor and a muzzle brake compensator. The mechanical aiming devices of the machine gun will also be updated.
Alan Lushnikov, the head of Kalashnikov Concern, said on August 12 that the AK-12 assault rifle is more reliable and easier to operate than similar versions from foreign manufacturers. He drew attention to the fact that these assault weapons are positioned on the international market as good and high-level.
