Police officer killed in South Carolina shooting

In Columbia, South Carolina, a police officer was killed and another officer was injured in a shootout. This was reported on August 29 by the Associated Press (AP), citing Columbia Police Chief William "Skip" Holbrook.

It is specified that the incident occurred after an appeal about a domestic dispute. The woman reported to the police that the man, who was subject to a restraining order, was destroying property in her house.

"The deceased officer, 29-year—old Christopher DeLong, worked for the police for two years, he is survived by his wife and two young children," Holbrook said.

According to the police chief, the suspect in the shooting died at the scene. Previously, he had repeatedly had problems with the law.
