For the first time since 1999, Russia bought 25 tons of cocoa beans from Brazil for $127.8 thousand.

Brazil resumed supplies of cocoa beans to Russia for the first time in 27 years, and in July the volume of supplies of these products amounted to $127.8 thousand (25 tons). This was confirmed on August 10 by data from the Brazilian state statistics.

According to documents reviewed by RIA Novosti, Brazil last sent cocoa beans to Russia in June 1999. Then the cost of delivery was $29 thousand.

In addition to Russia, in July, Brazilian producers exported cocoa beans to Japan in the amount of $120.8 thousand. In the previous month, deliveries were also carried out to Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium.

Total exports of cocoa and chocolate products from Brazil reached $59.4 million in July. According to this indicator, Russia was in the third ten among buyers. Argentina also became the leaders in purchases with imports of $17.6 million, the United States — $12.2 million, Chile — $5.2 million, the Netherlands — $4 million and Canada — $3.9 million.

According to Rosstat data from July 16, chocolate prices have been falling in Russia for the sixth month in a row. So, since the beginning of this year, the cost of products has fallen by almost 2%. For example, back in January 2026, it was possible to purchase 1 kg of the corresponding product for an average of 1,554.06 rubles, and already in June — for 1,527.87 rubles.
