- FT learned about the training of Colombian cartels in the use of drones in the Armed Forces
Illegal armed groups in Colombia are sending their people to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to learn from the experience of using drones. This was reported on August 6 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.
"The recruitment schemes are very complex, but what worries me most is the level of specialization they acquire," said a Colombian humanitarian worker in Ukraine.
According to the newspaper, former paramilitary members, soldiers and guerrillas are being trained in the use of unmanned systems. The article also notes that the acquired skills can be used after returning to Colombia against the country's army.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro said on May 5 that 7,000 citizens of his country are taking part in the conflict in Ukraine as mercenaries, resulting in senseless deaths. According to him, Colombia does not want to "export death," and mercenary activities are prohibited by law in the country.
