A power outage in Manchester has led to widespread train delays in the UK. This was reported on August 6 by The Independent newspaper.

According to the National Railway Network of Great Britain, train traffic on a significant part of the infrastructure was limited due to the impossibility of safe operation of trains after power outages.

"According to the National Railway Network of Great Britain, trains cannot safely run on a significant part of the railway network due to a power failure in Manchester," the newspaper said.

The most serious delays were recorded in the Greater Manchester area and in the north-west of England. The outage affected the operations of Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales.

The operator Northern Rail recommended passengers to cancel trips, noting that train service is not possible on several routes in the north-west of England.

Specialists are working to fix a malfunction in the power supply system of one of the communication centers. It is expected that disruptions in train traffic may persist until the end of the day.
