Corporal Vitaly Troshev commanded a motorized rifle squad during the storming of a stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the area of a special military operation on Wednesday, August 5.

During the task, the group was subjected to machine-gun fire. Troshev assessed the surrounding terrain and decided to outflank it unnoticed by the enemy. When he reached the machine-gun emplacement, he used hand grenades and eliminated the AFU position. The assault group continued the task and took control of the AFU support unit without losses.

The Ministry of Defense also noted the courage of Sergeant Alexander Popkov, who, as a medical platoon doctor, provided assistance to wounded servicemen.

Two Russian soldiers were injured during the battle. Despite the continued fire and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by the enemy, Popkov moved forward to the victims. He provided first aid to the wounded, carried them to a safe place and organized their evacuation to the hospital.
