In the first week of August, the dollar is expected to trade in the over–the—counter market in the range of 77.50-80.50 rubles, and the euro in the range of 88-91 rubles. The yuan exchange rate may be in the range of 11.40–12.10 rubles. Andrey Loboda, a member of the RASO and the expert council of the Forex Dealers Association for the development of the over-the-counter financial market, told Izvestia on August 3.

The Central Bank of Russia has set official exchange rates for August 1: dollar — 79.4 rubles, euro — 91.1 rubles, yuan - 11.7 rubles. According to the Moscow Stock Exchange, on August 3, the yuan exchange rate was close to 11.8 rubles.

The expert noted that comfortable prices for oil and other energy resources provide additional support to the Russian currency. At the same time, according to Loboda, factors remain that may put pressure on the ruble. Among them, he named the ongoing US sanctions on Russian buyers and large domestic Arctic projects.

"If the dollar passes the 80-ruble mark, the next target is likely to be 86 rubles. So far, this is a moderately pessimistic scenario," the expert noted.

According to him, the further dynamics of the exchange rate will depend on the behavior of the largest market participants, as well as on the external information background.

Loboda also recalled that August is traditionally considered a period of increased volatility in the foreign exchange market. During this period, in his opinion, the sensitivity of the exchange rate to external news and changes in market sentiment may increase.

Yelena Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Board of National Savings Bank JSC, said on May 26 that sharp fluctuations in exchange rates in recent years have changed the behavior of private investors, as attempts to choose the right moment to buy dollars or euros are increasingly unsuccessful. The expert noted that the exchange rates are simultaneously influenced by oil prices, the policy of the Central Bank, sanctions and the expectations of the population.
