In Poland, a record number of citizens opposed Ukraine's accession to the EU

A record number of Poles have spoken out against Ukraine's accession to the European Union. This is evidenced by the survey data from the CBOS laboratory, published on July 28.

"Although there are still more supporters of Ukraine's accession to the European Union than opponents, we are seeing significant changes to the detriment of Ukraine compared to October 2023," the publication says.

It is noted that supporters of Kiev's early admission to the EU are now only 9%, which is the lowest figure since October 2023. Another 41% are in favor of Ukraine's membership "without haste."

At the same time, the share of opponents of integration reached 40%, which was a record result in the history of research. Compared to October 2023, the indicator increased by 23 percentage points.

Polish Defense Minister Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh said on July 26 that Ukraine would not be able to become a member of the European Union as long as it retains the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) Stepan Bandera as a national symbol. The head of the Polish Defense Ministry also expressed the opinion that the most difficult aspect in the framework of negotiations on European integration for Kiev will be the fight against corruption.
