The doctor told about the first aid for a child with a broken tooth
Practicing dental orthodontist, Candidate of Medical Sciences Yegana Marufidi told how to act if a child's tooth is knocked out or broken.
In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, July 24, she advised first of all to pull yourself together. First, you need to examine the oral cavity, asking the child to rinse it with water, then apply a cold compress to the cheek for 10 minutes and, if necessary, give an analgesic in an age-appropriate dosage.
If fragments break off from the tooth, they should be collected, placed in water or milk and taken with the child to the dentist as soon as possible. If the tooth is completely knocked out, it is recommended to carefully return it to the hole or deliver it to the doctor — the sooner this is done, the higher the chances of preserving the tooth. After an injury, it is worth giving the child only warm food and drinks, so as not to increase pain and sensitivity.
The expert warned that you should not panic, touch a damaged tooth with dirty hands, try to install it yourself without cleanliness, or rinse your mouth with alcohol solutions. In case of severe pain, swelling or bleeding, you should immediately consult a dentist, writes RT.
The doctor will perform an examination, X-ray if necessary, treat the damage, repair the chips or try to preserve the dislodged tooth. If the tooth can be replaced, it will be fixed with a special splint for about two weeks. Then the root canal is treated, and then the healing process is monitored through repeated examinations and X-rays.
Ramazanova noted that the success of engraftment depends on the condition of the tooth root. Sometimes the tooth is successfully restored, but in some cases, inflammation develops, resorption of the root or fusion of the tooth with the bone, which is why it cannot be preserved. If a tooth is still lost, the issue of implantation is usually resolved only after the jaw is fully formed — at about 18-20 years of age. Before that, the doctor may suggest temporary recovery options, depending on the clinical situation.
Dentist-therapist Victoria Kravtsova warned the day before that vaping negatively affects oral health. The dentist also drew attention to the fact that liquids for electronic cigarettes can contribute to the destruction of tooth enamel, writes 360.ru .
Dentist Maxim Labukhin, in an interview with Izvestia on July 22, said that diseases of the teeth and gastrointestinal tract (GIT) can be interrelated, so treating only one problem does not always give a stable result. In particular, if there is an incorrect bite, missing teeth, caries or gum inflammation, food may enter the stomach insufficiently ground.
Periodontist Pavel Lysenkov noted on July 21 that the consumption of sugary drinks, frequent snacking and sudden changes in food temperatures can lead to enamel damage, caries and gum inflammation. The danger is not so much the products themselves as the frequency of their consumption, writes NSN.
In June, dentist Anastasia Hritova, in a conversation with the Moscow City News agency, said that the younger generation was more likely to experience tooth decay due to stress and lack of vitamins. Malocclusion and the habit of chewing pencils and pens also lead to tooth damage.
