- Rutte questioned Ukraine's change of strategy in the conflict with Russia after Fedorov's resignation
On July 16, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed the opinion that the change of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine would not lead to drastic changes in the country's strategy in the conflict with Russia.
"Rutte does not expect that the appointment of a new Ukrainian defense minister will lead to major changes in Kiev's strategy in the fight against Russia," the DPA news agency reports.
Rutte also said that he had a good working relationship with retired Mikhail Fedorov and wished him success. According to the Secretary General of the alliance, the successor "will continue his path," adds "Газета.Ru ".
The day before, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the change of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine was not of fundamental importance to Russia and would not affect the course of the special operation. He noted that it is important for Moscow that the Ukrainian side make a responsible decision that would allow for a peaceful settlement and an end to the conflict.
Fedorov confirmed his resignation on July 15. According to Ukrainska Pravda, the country's president, Vladimir Zelensky, announced the existence of a protracted conflict between the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky. After that, Zelensky instructed the acting chairman of the country's Security Service, Yevgeny Khmara, to become acting Defense Minister.
