- AmCham announced the loss of $200 billion by the US business due to sanctions against Russia
Over the past four years, American businesses have suffered losses of $200 billion due to the imposition of anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced on July 15 by Robert Agee, Chief Executive Officer of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Russia.
"Because of the anti—Russian sanctions, American business is really suffering a lot, it has lost about $200 billion in the past four years alone," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the head of AmCham, after the start of the special operation, confusion and panic were observed among Western entrepreneurs in the Russian Federation. Agee noted that against the background of the emotional state, some companies decided to leave the country, while the chamber urged partners to remain sober and not to take hasty actions.
"Another thing is that no one, of course, wanted to leave Russia. That's understandable. After all, the Russian market has been and remains attractive to Western companies. It's big, stable, and growing fast," Agee emphasized.
Agee said on June 18 that the introduction of the US sanctions policy against Russia was the wrong decision. According to him, some of the sanctions restrictions were imposed by the decrees of the US president and can be lifted "even tomorrow." At the same time, Agee pointed out that tougher measures, fixed at the congressional level, require a more complex legislative procedure for their revision.
