In Ukraine, entire armies of robotics are involved in combat operations, which are changing the traditional nature of the armed conflict. This was reported on July 13 by The New York Times (NYT).

The publication notes that along with aerial drones, which previously rewrote the rules of engagement and attracted the attention of the world community, the parties are increasingly using ground platforms.

"Battalions of ground robots <...> that supply supplies, transport ammunition, evacuate the wounded, lay mines and increasingly hold positions now conduct thousands of missions every month," the material says.

According to the authors of the article, until recently such scenarios seemed to be a matter of the distant future. NYT analysts point out that the conflict in Ukraine has become a powerful incentive for the development of military robotics technologies. At the same time, the use of such developments is already beyond the scope of the current confrontation.

For example, Ukrainian developments have recently been used by the US military during the war with Iran, adds "Газета.Ru ".

On July 10, the Russian army thwarted an attempted counterattack by the Ukrainian army using ground-based robotic systems in the Orekhovsky direction in the Zaporizhia region. After the targets were detected, the operators transmitted their coordinates to the calculations of the attack drones. The Russian Defense Ministry noted that both robotic complexes were destroyed by precision drone strikes even on the approaches to the positions of the Russian paratroopers.
