The expert named the main risks of investing through online platforms
Before investing funds through the investment platform, it is necessary to check its status, study the rules of operation, the collateral registration model and the debt collection procedure. Alexander Volgin, the founder of the Lendly investment platform and an economist, told Izvestia about this on July 14.
First of all, you should make sure that the site is included in the register of operators of investment platforms of the Bank of Russia. By law, the operator must also have its own funds in the amount of at least 5 million rubles and reserves in case of emergency situations.
"If you want to be a participant in a regulated market, you need to make sure that you have a license," Volgin said.
He added that special attention should be paid to the rules of the platform, which specify the requirements for participants, investment methods, timing of money transfer, remuneration of the operator and the procedure for disclosure of information.
"Guided by the recovery policy, the investor sees before investing the money what protection mechanisms he has and how the platform plans to act in a difficult situation. Often, this certainty frees the client from illusions: in case of delay, he will not wait for what he was not promised," the expert explained.
When working with collateral loans, it is necessary to find out who the collateral is issued to and whether it is registered with the Federal Register. According to Volgin, a notarized power of attorney and a complete set of documents can allow an investor to file a claim and collect debts independently, regardless of the platform.
When choosing a site, you should also take into account the duration of its work, the experience of the team, the statistics of delays and the results of penalties. Volgin also drew attention to crowdinvesting in real estate, in which the investor receives a share in the company that owns the property. Crowdinvesting does not guarantee high returns, but it significantly reduces risks, the expert noted.
The economist recommended saving contracts, rules, foreclosure policies, and collateral registration documents in advance, as well as clarifying controversial provisions of the transaction. According to him, when choosing a tool, it is necessary to evaluate not only the potential profitability, but also the possible risks.
On June 12, the head of the city's online project "Call me Back" at the Moscow Department of Information Technology, Valentina Shilina, warned that one should not try to replay telephone scammers, since voice recording can be used in the future to confirm banking transactions or to deceive loved ones.
