Russians over 40 are increasingly talking about the desire to live "for themselves" and find inner balance. However, the outward calm often hides fatigue, anxiety, and a desire for change. According to a study by the Mamba service and the Geltek cosmetics company, women of this age today are concerned not only about relationships and loneliness, but also about age-related changes, appearance and overall quality of life. The survey data was reviewed on July 6 by Izvestia.

Health remains the main cause of anxiety for women after 40: 54% of respondents named it. But relationships and loneliness turned out to be almost as important a topic (47%). Next are financial issues (41%) and worries about children and family (39%). 38% of women are concerned about appearance, skin condition, figure and age-related changes. At the same time, the situation in the world and the country was at the end of the list of worries: Russians worry about their personal emotional state and the quality of their own lives much more than the external background.

Many women hide emotional fatigue behind their outward calm. So, 34% of respondents admit that they are tired of communication and people, 29% talk about burnout and internal exhaustion, and 27% about a decrease in confidence in their own attractiveness. A quarter of women are afraid of loneliness, but the paradox is that when they feel the need for intimacy, they feel tired of the dating process itself. In addition, 20% admit that they live "not for themselves," and 17% say they have lost their sense of meaning in life.

The topic of finding a mate remains one of the most important and at the same time the most controversial for women after 40. 44% of the respondents actively go on dates, another 39% admit that they would like to start a new relationship, but have not yet decided. Another 11% are in the process of rethinking after a breakup, and only 6% are not looking for dating at all.

The main request remains the desire to find a reliable partner for life (51%). In second place is a person for shared experiences and travel (15%), followed by love (14%) and flirting or light relationships (13%). At the same time, official marriage as a goal is important for only 5% of women, and the fear of being alone gained only 2%.

Among the main difficulties, women name the search for "their" man (67%), distrust of men (30%) and fear of disappointment after the first date (30%). For 22%, the need to let a new person into an already established life and a familiar rhythm becomes a separate problem.

At the same time, women over the age of 40 are increasingly building their own rules in relationships. For 25%, self-respect and personal boundaries become the main thing, 23% try not to idealize men, and 20% consciously do not waste time on uninterested partners. Another 22% admit that today they focus more on actions than on words. It is also important for women to immediately identify their goals in dating and not make relationships the center of their own lives.

Attitudes towards age-related changes are quite contradictory. Thus, 41% of the respondents regularly take care of themselves, 26% calmly accept age-related changes and do nothing. Another 18% admit that they actively struggle with age, and 14% worry about their appearance, but do not yet understand what exactly needs to be done.

Body changes and excess weight are the main reason for worries, 41% of women answered. Age-related changes in the oval of the face and the inner feeling of "I'm not the same anymore" scored 33%. This is followed by health anxiety (30%), wrinkles (20%) and skin quality (14%). At the same time, issues of appearance are increasingly associated not only with aesthetics, but also with a general sense of self.

Women call home care the main way to support themselves, 69% choose it. Sports are in second place (30%). Cosmetologists and professional care are trusted by 21%, and hardware procedures and injections are chosen by about 20%. But only 3% consider plastic surgery.

Daily skin care is perceived not only as a necessity. For 27% of women, this is a part of self-care, while another 25% consider it a way to maintain youth. For 20%, this is a useful habit, 12% perceive care as a basic necessity, 9% as an investment in themselves, and 7% as a ritual for emotional relaxation and recovery.

The psychologist of the dating service Larisa Karavaytseva named the differences between a comfortable relationship and boredom. According to her, a comfortable relationship is characterized by a sense of security, predictability, and inner peace. Boredom, on the other hand, occurs when interaction ceases to arouse interest and a sense of emotional involvement.
