Russian online dating services are exploring the possibility of launching new tools to find partners among colleagues. One of the major dating platforms has announced its readiness to develop a corporate application that will allow employees of one company to get to know each other within the team. Another service considers a more promising approach involving the expansion of user profiles through data on career achievements. To do this, the resources plan to integrate with the largest job search platforms. However, experts note that many employers have a negative attitude towards romantic relationships between colleagues. Whether such services will be in demand and what the encouragement of such acquaintances can lead to is in the Izvestia article.

An application for office novels

Dating services are beginning to develop the direction of corporate dating. For example, Teamo informed Izvestia that it was ready to offer companies a solution that would allow employees to search for potential partners among colleagues through a corporate application. At the same time, artificial intelligence—based selection algorithms can be adapted to a specific employer, for example, to customize search criteria, recommendation parameters, and user interaction rules.

— At work, people often communicate within their department and rarely expand their circle of acquaintances within the organization. The service's algorithms can increase the likelihood of familiarity between employees from different departments, regions, and job levels. In addition, the issuance of questionnaires can be optimized not only for mutual sympathy, but also for the likelihood of a real meeting. In this case, practical factors are taken into account: whether people are in the same city, whether they work in the same office, whether they overlap on schedule, and how easy it is for them to arrange a personal meeting," Anna Grishacheva, general director of the service, told Izvestia.

A number of large IT companies are already discussing the possibility of including online dating services in the corporate social package, she added.

Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Federation Council, had previously made a proposal to employers to create conditions for personal communication between employees, which could be one of the measures to support families. According to her, the Internet has become the main place for dating today. However, it is not always secure and does not provide a sufficient level of trust.

"Maybe we should pay attention to this as well — how to create a favorable atmosphere inside, help women and men look for each other, and maybe even think about such a dating service in the good sense of the word," she said at one of the SPIEF 2026 sessions.

Data from job search sites

The Mamba service agrees that the place of work plays an important role in choosing a partner, however, they consider it more promising to integrate user career data into existing applications rather than into the development of special corporate solutions.

Income and place of work remain important criteria when choosing a partner. In the near future, the service will be able to specify and confirm the place of work, as well as integration with recruiting services is planned. This will help people find a match from a certain professional field, but at the same time not limit themselves to one company," says Andrey Bronetsky, CEO of Mamba.

According to him, if you do make a corporate dating service, then it should be completely voluntary and maximally separated from work processes. Without the involvement of managers, without any connection to a career, without influence on performance evaluation or internal communications. And the main difference from regular dating services may be a higher level of trust: all participants work for the same company and know each other. However, this advantage simultaneously becomes a disadvantage, because after an unsuccessful acquaintance they will have to meet every day in the office, he stressed.

— When using an existing technology platform, the basic version of such a service can be implemented in a couple of weeks. The most difficult task will remain not the development, but the organization of high—quality verification that the user really works for the declared company," said Andrey Bronetsky.

Conflict of interest

But the TON Dating service, which operates inside one of the popular instant messengers, considers the creation of corporate dating applications to be unpromising simply because there are not enough users in a single company who are interested in such contacts.

— If we take the input data: about 100 thousand employees, then about 15% will actually be actively looking for a partner, that is, 15 thousand people. Of these, it is good if 10%, about 1,500 people, are ready to use the corporate service. The rest solve this issue in the usual ways: through friends, events, existing applications. It is impractical to develop a separate product for so many users," said Vladimir Makhov, the founder of the service.

If you make such a product from scratch, it will take 6-10 months, and about 3-4 months on the existing code base, he noted. At the same time, special algorithm settings for corporate purposes are not required. You can use the classic matching model: by similar interests, age, location, etc.

The idea of corporate online dating has its weaknesses. For example, mixing work and personal life can destabilize a business. A company where bosses have affairs with subordinates, and related clans share budgets, gets a strong reputation as a "gangland" and a "snake's nest," said Olga Valaeva, head of the Center for the Development of Digital Clinics at Moscow State University.

That is why mature companies do not just urge to "be more reasonable", but build a strict policy that does not allow direct management of relatives or romantic partners in one department. It is much safer and more efficient for companies to invest resources in building transparent "rules of the game" for existing relationships and developing a comfortable working environment, rather than deliberately provoking office romances, the psychologist said.

According to Konstantin Ankilov, Managing Partner of TMT Consulting, a place of work allows you to indirectly assess a person's income, education, and area of interest, which can be an important factor when looking for a serious relationship. He also noted that dating services within companies may be in demand, since teams with people close in spirit and a common corporate culture are often formed at the same workplace. At the same time, employees, as a rule, interact mainly within their own department, so expanding the circle of communication can be useful.

According to him, such a service can be considered by employers as an additional element of the social package — along with a subscription to a fitness club or corporate insurance.
