The earthquake in Venezuela was developing so fast that people had almost no chance to escape from it and take shelter somewhere. On June 25, Mirta Perasa, a resident of the republic, told Izvestia, who lost her entire family as a result of the incident.

"My granddaughter was playing outside. And when my daughter ran out to pick her up, a beam fell on her. She didn't have time, she didn't have time to hide. Everything happened very quickly: a warning message came, followed immediately by an earthquake," she said.

Journalist Mariorin Mendes, who visited the camp in coastal Catia la Mar, where people who have lost their homes are being held, clarified that she had time to talk with another local resident. He also lost four family members in the earthquake event. The victims have already been visited by volunteers and government officials. They all join in helping them.

"Now we will head to the area where rescuers continue to dismantle the rubble in the hope of finding survivors. <...> Everything happened so quickly that people had almost no chance to save themselves and leave their homes. The victims spent time here (in the camp. — Ed.) all night in the open air," Mendes described.

The footage from the scene shows the victims, who are located on the beach. Some of them have set up tents right on the lawn, while others are trying to hide from the scorching sun under beach umbrellas. People are trying to zone the field, creating their own small corners with the help of sheets hung on beams and blankets spread on the ground.

An earthquake in Venezuela with a magnitude of 7.5 was recorded late the night before. It has become the strongest in this country since the beginning of the 20th century. Back in 1900, a seismic event killed 21 people and injured 50 others, and now there are at least 164 victims and over 900 injured. Danila Chebrov, director of the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center "Unified Geophysical Service" of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in an interview with Izvestia, predicted aftershocks that may become apparent for a long time.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his condolences to the authorized President of the Republic, Delcy Rodriguez, in connection with this tragedy, and she, in turn, thanked him for expressing solidarity with her people. According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Moscow is currently considering the possibility of providing humanitarian assistance to Caracas.
