Trump announced Iran's agreement to conduct indefinite nuclear inspections
Iran has agreed to conduct nuclear inspections indefinitely. This was announced on June 23 by US President Donald Trump.
According to Trump, based on this and other concessions from Iran, he decided not to impose a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and leave it open.
"All ships remain in place in case it is necessary to restore the blockade, which, at the moment, seems extremely unlikely," the American leader clarified on the Truth social network.
Trump also said that the unfrozen Iranian assets will be used exclusively for the purchase of food and medical supplies from the United States, including corn, wheat and soybeans from American farmers. He called the situation in Iran a humanitarian crisis and said it was necessary to help "now, before it is too late." In addition, the president stressed that negotiations with Iran are going well.
The speaker of the Iranian parliament and the chief negotiator of the Iranian delegation, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said on June 22 that the management of the Strait of Hormuz would not return to the state before the conflict with the United States. Ghalibaf noted that international rules will be respected, but Iran will manage Hormuz.
Following talks between Washington and Tehran in Switzerland on June 22, Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance said that the United States intends to strengthen inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities by specialists from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). According to the politician, inspections of the IAEA staff at the facilities will help provide guarantees that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons.
