- The media reported on the transfer of the case of the wife of the Prime Minister of Spain to the jury
Judge Juan Carlos Peinado referred the case of the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Begonia Gomez to a jury, confiscated her passport and banned her from leaving the country. This was reported by the EFE news agency on June 20.
"Panado has ruled that Gomez, the wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, will stand trial. He imposed precautionary measures on her, including the confiscation of her passport, an exit ban and a requirement to appear in court every two weeks," the publication says.
It is specified that the decision was made after a preliminary hearing. Panado handed over the Gomez case to a jury on charges of corruption, influence peddling, embezzlement and embezzlement of funds.
According to the agency, in addition to the Prime Minister's wife, her adviser Cristina Alvarez, who faces similar charges, as well as businessman Juan Carlos Barrabez, accused of influence peddling and corruption in the private sector, were sent to court.
The Moldovan newspaper Telegraph reported on June 18 that a court in Chisinau ordered the arrest of the former head of the Moldovan opposition bloc Pobeda, Ilan Shor, in the case of embezzlement of $100 million from the budget of Banca de Economii (BEM). Shor will be provisionally arrested for 30 days. The decision was made on June 17 in his absence at the request of the prosecutor's office.
