- The oncologist urged not to forget about the neck and decollete area in the summer sun
Dermatooncologist, PhD Natalia Gaidash told how to protect yourself from skin problems in summer. In an interview with Radio 1 on Thursday, June 18, the specialist reminded that when protecting from the sun, many people forget about the neck and decollete area. According to her, it is these exposed skin areas, along with the face, that are most susceptible to UV radiation, which can lead to premature aging and increase the risk of skin cancer.
In the city, the specialist recommends using products with SPF 30, and on vacation — SPF 50 and above. The expert also refuted the widespread myth that removing moles can be dangerous. She explained that with early detection of melanoma, the risks are significantly reduced, and an unfavorable prognosis is usually associated with advanced cases of the disease.
The doctor called for special attention to be paid to protecting children from the sun. According to her, sunburn at an early age significantly increases the risk of skin growths in the future. The specialist recommended that children under 10 years old stay on the beach only until 10:30 and after 15:00, and also be sure to wear a hat.
Gaidash added that it is not necessary to completely avoid the sun, but you should take sun baths in moderation and in compliance with protective measures.
Dermatovenerologist and cosmetologist Elizaveta Shukhman noted on June 14 that in summer, the skin does not need a complete revision of the cosmetic bag, but stable and well-chosen care that will help to cope with heat and UV exposure. kp.ru .
Prior to that, on June 11, epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko said it was important to take precautions when tanning and bathing. According to him, even in a megalopolis, the risks of sunburn and heat stroke remain high, NSN notes.
On June 9, Anastasia Razbezhkina, a dermatovenerologist and cosmetologist, told us which mistake is the most important in summer skin care. The expert noted that the choice of SPF depends on the conditions of being outdoors. For a short stay indoors, funds with SPF 15 may be sufficient, while for walking it is better to choose SPF 30 or 50.
At the same time, dermatologist and cosmetologist Zarema Omarova told RT that uncontrolled exposure to the sun is dangerous, especially for owners of skin types I and II, people with a tendency to hyperpigmentation, as well as in the presence of a large number of moles. Tanning can be safe if you get it under SPF protection.
Oncologist Violetta Purtskhvanidze recommended checking moles before vacation. According to her, people with fair skin and a large number of moles are most at risk — ultraviolet light can cause changes in skin cells. 360.ru .
