President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will visit Poland on Thursday and Friday, June 25 and 26, amid a diplomatic conflict between the countries. The Rzeczpospolita newspaper reported this on June 17.

According to the newspaper, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs received an official note from Kiev on the visit of the Ukrainian leader on Tuesday, June 16. Zelensky intends to take part in the conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in Gdansk.

According to the newspaper, the visit of the head of state remained in doubt due to disagreements with the Polish authorities. The reason for the conflict was the naming of one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the "heroes of the UPA" (the Ukrainian insurgent army, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

On June 16, unknown persons set fire to a Ukrainian restaurant in Warsaw. Two young men broke the glass of the front door, got inside and spilled flammable liquid on the floor. Some of the equipment was completely destroyed.

A day earlier, political analyst Vladimir Skachko warned that the aggravation of relations between Kiev and Warsaw due to issues of historical memory could have serious consequences for Ukraine. According to him, Zelensky uses this conflict to unite nationalist forces and strengthen confidence in the government, and Poland as an excuse to bargain with the European Union.
