Over-the-counter dollar and euro exchange rates in the coming days may be in the ranges of 71-75 and 82-86 rubles, respectively. Trading in the Chinese yuan is likely to be in the range of 10.40–11.00 rubles. Andrey Loboda, a member of the RASO and the expert council of the Association of Forex Dealers on the development of the over-the-counter financial market, told Izvestia on June 15.

The Central Bank of Russia set the official exchange rate for June 12: dollar — 71.9 rubles, euro — 82.9 rubles, yuan — 10.6 rubles. At the same time, according to the Moscow Stock Exchange, as of June 15, the yuan exchange rate is about 10.6 rubles.

"The Bank of Russia has already gone through eight steps down the rate — from 21% to the current 14.5%, and the ninth looks organic and a foregone conclusion. It is likely that the key rate will drop to 14% this Friday. The ruble remains expensive for now. It is quite obvious that, against the background of the expected smooth continuation of monetary policy easing, the world's leading currencies will recover to 10% of current exchange rates against Russia. An important signal of a reversal of events will be the breakdown of the dollar above 76 rubles," Loboda explained.

According to the expert, several factors affect the dynamics of the ruble at once — from oil prices and budgetary mechanisms to the geopolitical situation and sanctions pressure. In such circumstances, the formation of a single "optimal" course remains a difficult task.

Loboda noted that the ruble exchange rate, which does not create losses for exporters and at the same time does not provoke an acceleration of inflation, can be considered more balanced for the economy. According to him, this range is in the range of 72-78 rubles per dollar, which corresponds to the Bank of Russia's inflation target of 4-4.5% per annum.

Financial expert Elena Drozdova said on May 22 that the current ruble exchange rate creates favorable conditions for buying dollars, but it is worth buying currency only for specific purposes, and not "just in case." She also recommended following a balanced approach when making savings. According to her, the classical strategy of allocating available funds remains optimal — half should be stored in rubles, and the second part should be converted into foreign currency assets.
