The weather forecaster warned Muscovites about thunderstorms this week

Muscovites will have a cool and rainy working week, but the weather will improve by the weekend. Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo-TV forecasting center, told Izvestia about this on June 15.

According to him, on Monday the air temperature in Moscow will rise to +23 degrees, in the region — up to + 25 degrees. Short-term rains are expected in the afternoon, with heavy precipitation and thunderstorms in some places.

"Rain clouds are expected to form in Moscow and the Moscow region in the afternoon, which will lead to short-term precipitation. Heavy rains and thunderstorms are possible in some areas of the Moscow region, mainly in the south of the region. The south and south-westerly winds will blow at a speed of 6-11 m/s, with thunderstorms gusts may increase to 16 m/s. The atmospheric pressure will be about 738 mmHg and will gradually increase in the future," the forecaster explained.

Ilyin noted that it will get noticeably colder in the capital region from Tuesday to Thursday. Daytime temperatures will range from +15 to +19 degrees, and at night the thermometer will drop to +7... +12 degrees. In addition, there will be a chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The forecaster drew attention to the fact that from Thursday the amount of precipitation will begin to decrease, and the air temperature will gradually rise. On Friday, it is expected to reach +21...+26 degrees, and on the weekend — up to +23...+28 degrees.

According to Ilyin's forecast, the probability of rain will be minimal on Saturday and Sunday, and precipitation is almost not expected on the last day of the week. Atmospheric pressure will rise to 753 mmHg by Sunday.

"The main thunderstorms are expected in the first half of the working week — on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Starting on Thursday, precipitation will begin to decrease, and thunderstorm activity will gradually fade. On Thursday and Friday, only short-term local rains are possible, some precipitation is possible on Saturday. On Sunday, the weather will be dry with no precipitation," the expert concluded.

A record amount of precipitation was recorded in the east of Moscow — 122.9 mm, which is almost 160% of the monthly norm in June, the press service of the capital's urban complex reported on June 13.
