The upcoming peace agreement between the United States and Iran was a serious blow to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had hoped for a different outcome to the conflict. This was reported on June 13 by the Axios portal, citing sources in the administration of US President Donald Trump.

"It's a deal. This is a great deal, and it's time to put an end to this war," the portal quoted Trump as saying in a conversation with the Israeli prime minister.

According to the newspaper, a different resolution of the conflict with Iran was assumed in Tel Aviv: according to the Knesset, the war was supposed to lead to regime change in Tehran.

The authors of the material clarify that after Trump's decision to curtail the operation, Netanyahu is accused of becoming dependent on Washington and turning Israel into a "vassal state."

On June 11, Trump announced that Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei had approved the agreements with the United States. Trump noted that the final paperwork is expected in the coming days, and their signing may take place in Europe this weekend, while he himself will not attend the ceremony.

Axios reported on the same day that Trump's statement about advancing negotiations with Iran came as a surprise to Netanyahu. According to Axios, the Israeli prime minister was not warned about this, and Washington's statement "took him by surprise." The American president also said that the documents on the agreement are in the final stages of preparation.
