Associate Professor of Finance University, political scientist Ivan Pyatibratov said that the decision of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to open access to the new tranche to Armenia was a political signal. He believes that the West has not only accepted the results of recent political processes in the country, but also demonstrates its willingness to support the current government, including financially.

In an interview with the Mail News on Wednesday, June 10, the expert noted that if other political forces had won, the IMF would hardly have approved the new tranche, but instead there could have been allegations of electoral violations. He also noted that the fund's possible financial assistance is not comparable with the volume of Russian-Armenian trade, which exceeded $6 billion by the end of 2025.

The expert noted that the amount of $25 million is not capable of significantly affecting the country's economy, but it may have significant political significance. In his opinion, the IMF's decision actually demonstrates support for the current government and its initiatives. He also believes that it is more profitable for external players to work with the elites than to invest heavily in the country's economy.

Earlier on June 10, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the allocation of funds to Armenia in the amount of $25 million after the election victory of Nikol Pashinyan's party. It is noted that the Armenian authorities continue to consider this agreement as a precautionary measure, Moscow 24 clarifies. The IMF stressed that the Armenian authorities consider the program to be preventive and are not going to use the money unless absolutely necessary. 360.ru .

Taking into account the previous tranche, the total amount of available financing under the program will reach approximately $50.2 million, the website says. kp.ru .

On the eve of June 9, the Armenian opposition demanded a recount of votes at 555 of 2005 polling stations, writes RT. The commission received 30 applications from representatives of the Prosperous Armenia, Wings of Unity and Armenia bloc parties. The recount of the results will take place in the district election commissions and will be broadcast live, the National News Service reports.
