The expert named the expected ranges of foreign exchange rates
In the first half of June, the ruble continues to demonstrate stability against major world currencies. By the middle of the month, the dollar exchange rate is likely to be in the range of 70-75 rubles, the euro — 81-86 rubles, and the yuan at the Moscow Stock Exchange may fluctuate between 10-11 rubles. Andrey Loboda, a member of the RASO and the expert council of the Association of Forex Dealers on the development of the over-the-counter financial market, told Izvestia on June 8.
The Central Bank of Russia set the official exchange rate for June 6: dollar — 73.4 rubles, euro — 85.5 rubles, yuan — 10.8 rubles. At the same time, according to the Moscow Stock Exchange, as of June 8, the yuan exchange rate is about 10.7 rubles.
"The low demand for the euro in the Russian over-the-counter market indicates a decrease in the importance of the European currency for the domestic economy. Most Russians are wary of the currencies of unfriendly states, and the Chinese yuan remains the least toxic asset among the world's key currencies," Loboda explained.
The expert also drew attention to the situation on the oil market. On Monday, June 8, the price of Brent crude oil rose by 3.7% and reached 96.23 dollars per barrel. The main reason for the increase was the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East: the exchange of strikes between Iran and Israel, as well as the ongoing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Loboda, three key factors continue to influence the dynamics of the foreign exchange market: high oil prices, the volume of foreign exchange transactions of the Ministry of Finance and the geopolitical situation. He stressed that as long as the dollar remains above 73.4 rubles, the prerequisites remain for its further movement towards 75 rubles.
Financial expert Elena Drozdova said on May 22 that the current ruble exchange rate creates favorable conditions for buying dollars, but it is worth buying currency only for specific purposes, and not "just in case." She also recommended following a balanced approach when making savings. According to her, the classical strategy of allocating available funds remains optimal — half should be stored in rubles, and the second part should be converted into foreign currency assets.
