The draft amendments to the budget of Ukraine do not provide for the previously promised increase in military pay. This was announced on June 7 by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to the parliamentarian, the vote on amendments to the budget for 2026 is scheduled to take place next week.

"Do you remember the recent promise <...> to increase military salaries? At least up to 30 thousand hryvnias ($678). So, the budget does not include money for this. Even compared to last year, there is still a deficit. That is, even to pay at the level of last year, you will still need to look for money," Zheleznyak wrote on his Telegram channel.

At the same time, the deputy noted that the document retains the norm of increasing salaries for rear staff of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). According to Zheleznyak, on Monday, June 8, the relevant committee will consider 1,865 amendments to the bill.

On May 26, Russian law enforcement agencies reported that Ukrainian commanders were taking bribes from subordinates to provide vacations and pay their salaries. The interlocutor noted that in case of refusal, a fighter may be delayed in payments or create obstacles to receiving them, as well as exert pressure by sending them on assault missions.
