Zakharova pointed to unequal relations between the United States and Armenia

The United States does not behave with Armenia as with an equal partner, because it gives it only empty promises, without supporting them with real documents. This was announced on June 3 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Let's ask a question: is this how they behave with an equal partner? Of course not. When it comes to equality, <...> the matter is not limited to declarations, declarations, promises, oaths. It's really about formalizing relations into international treaties," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

She added that Washington has already signed strategic partnership agreements with Yerevan and the United States has not fulfilled those promises. According to Zakharova, the papers signed by the United States do not have the status of international agreements, which means they are not bound to anything.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed the charter of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries at a meeting in Yerevan on May 26. In addition, the parties signed agreements to ensure the supply, extraction and processing of rare earth minerals, as well as a framework agreement on strategic cooperation within the framework of the Trump's Path for International Prosperity (TRIPP) project.

On May 27, US President Donald Trump supported the candidacy of the current Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in the upcoming parliamentary elections in the republic. He made a corresponding post on the Truth Social network and promised to "unite on the path of Trump soon."
