US President Donald Trump is demanding that Iran confirm in writing specific concessions within the framework of a preliminary agreement on its nuclear program. This was reported on June 2 by ABC News TV channel, citing sources.

"Earlier, Iranian negotiators gave verbal assurances that the regime would eventually agree to certain conditions regarding the Iranian nuclear program, but President [Trump] decided at a meeting at the situation center that these commitments were not strong enough," the material says.

It is specified that Iran continues to review the draft agreement. Last week, the parties agreed on its initial version, which included a written promise from Iran not to develop nuclear weapons, but without specific commitments on the rest of the nuclear program.

Trump has said he expects Tehran to agree to its terms within a week, but U.S. officials have expressed doubts about the Iranian regime's ability to rally around the agreement.

On June 1, Trump announced that a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States could be concluded within the next week. The American leader also noted that he had not approved the previous version of the document, as he expects a number of additional points to be included in the memorandum.

On the same day, Trump said that negotiations between Washington and Tehran were continuing, despite earlier reports of a possible suspension of the dialogue. The US president added that he had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
