Journalist Bose called Merz an unpopular liar in Germany

On May 29, Irish journalist Chay Bose criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's statements about the drone incident in Romania.

In his address at the same time, the Chancellor said that Germany needed a "strong NATO presence" on the eastern flank to supposedly protect it from the Russian Federation.

"An extremely unpopular liar in Berlin who does what he does best — he makes it up," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to the journalist, Merz should remember what happened last time, when "the talkative chancellor started a quarrel with Russia."

Despite his unpopularity, he is able to put Germany on a war footing.

The leader of the German party Sarah Wagenknecht's Union for Reason and Justice (SSV), Sarah Wagenknecht, demanded Merz's resignation on May 27. According to the head of the party, the current policy of the authorities is leading the country to decline, and if changes do not occur, then in three years "it will no longer be possible to save it."

Merz said on May 9 that European countries were forced to spend an impressive amount in order to supposedly protect themselves from the threat from Russia. According to him, the EU continues to pin its hopes on receiving patronage from the United States.
