In Australia, brothers Peter, Michael and Andreas Sallum caught a 107 kg tuna off the town of Apollo Bay (Victoria). As the 9News portal reported on May 29, it took two hours to catch the fish.

At a price of 683 Australian dollars per kg, the cost of tuna could be about $73 thousand (about 3.8 million rubles). Trade in caught fish is prohibited, so members of one family decided to eat the fish themselves, as well as share it with relatives and friends.

According to Michael, everyone on board was shocked by the catch, including the captain of the vessel. The catch became not only a valuable trophy for them, but also an unforgettable experience.

"We will definitely remember this, 100 kg is not something that we manage to catch every day," said Peter.

On January 13, the agribusiness portal Agrobite announced the purchase of giant tuna for a record 510.3 million yen ($3.2 million) by the owner of the Japanese sushi restaurant chain Kiyoshi Kimura at a local New Year's auction. After the purchase, the fish was butchered to make sushi, which was subsequently sold for 500 yen ($3.15) per serving.
