The Dutch prosecutor's office has demanded to recover €8 million from former Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes in the cocaine smuggling case. This was reported on May 29 by the newspaper De Telegraaf.

"The prosecutor's office wants to receive a significant amount of money from former football player Quincy Promes," the publication says.

According to investigators, Promes received about €8 million from the illegal drug trade and hid these revenues from the tax authorities. The football player is on trial with his cousin.

Currently, the Dutch prosecutor's office is seeking the confiscation of the alleged income of the football player, obtained as a result of illegal activities.

On March 17, Promes, an ex-striker, partially pleaded guilty to a criminal case of attacking his cousin with a knife. According to the lawyers, Promes does not deserve to be punished anyway, because he defended himself.

In the Netherlands, two criminal cases have been initiated against Promes. One of them was on the fact of stabbing a cousin, for which he was sentenced in absentia to 18 months in prison. The second case concerns involvement in the importation of more than a ton of cocaine through the port of the Belgian city of Antwerp. For this, a court in Amsterdam sentenced the athlete in absentia to six years in prison.
