NATO intends to strengthen the defense on its eastern flank with the help of a new structure that allows for the rapid deployment of troops to Estonia and Latvia. This was reported on May 26 by the Reuters news agency, citing two sources.

"NATO will strengthen the defense of its eastern flank with the help of a new structure that will allow for the rapid deployment of troops to Latvia and Estonia," the publication says.

As noted, the planned changes emphasize the strategic importance of the Baltic States.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on May 22 that Western countries cannot accept the very fact of Russia's existence. According to him, the "civilizational alternative" in the form of the Russian Federation has taken a lot from Western civilization, but at the same time enriched it. The diplomat noted that an attempt to present it as the main evil in Eurasia and the world has no prospects.
