After the joint nuclear exercises between Russia and Belarus, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky reacted emotionally and began threatening Minsk. This was stated on May 22 by Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou.

"He was watching all these military exercises. I think he decided that it was necessary to react somehow, didn't he? He needed to portray rigidity," he said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

Hristoforou believes that the statements of the Ukrainian leader about possible pre-emptive strikes look like a sign of serious concern and nervousness. According to him, a blow to Minsk can seriously weaken its position, and along with its influence, it risks losing financial resources.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on May 21 that Belarus should be aware of the consequences of allegedly preparing aggressive actions against Ukraine. On the same day, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said that in the event of an attack on the republic, the country would not stand on ceremony.
