Military personnel of the Center group of forces captured the strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the DPR

Soldiers of the assault detachment of the 239th Guards Tank Regiment of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Center group of forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation captured the strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the outskirts of the settlement of Novopavlovka of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the Dnepropetrovsk direction of the special military operation (SVO). This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on May 22.

According to the ministry, the operation was carried out by calculations of troops of unmanned systems (UAVs) together with artillery and other units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The reconnaissance was conducted using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), after which FPV drones and artillery struck the identified enemy targets.

After that, the assault groups broke into enemy strongholds under fire cover and cleared the dugouts and shelters, destroying the manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is specified that during the storming of the strongholds, the enemy resisted, using attack drones and mortars.

"The fights weren't easy. The guys understood everything, there were no people who went back. Everyone marched forward with dignity. Everyone knew the task, everyone tried. <...> The guys always felt the support of the command," said Mevlud Dzhamarashvili, deputy commander of the assault squad for military—technical cooperation.

The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that it was possible to minimize losses and complete the task on time thanks to well-coordinated cooperation between the units. The capture of enemy targets on the outskirts of Novopavlovka created favorable conditions for the further advance of the units of the Center group of forces in this direction, the department concluded.

On May 21, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that military personnel of the D-30 howitzer howitzer division of the 80th tank Regiment of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Center group of forces destroyed a UAV stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dnepropetrovsk area of their military operations. The UAV crew of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was located in the fortification, which conducted reconnaissance and fire correction at the positions of Russian military units. The target was detected by aerial reconnaissance vehicles, and its coordinates were transmitted to the artillery unit.
