China and the United States have agreed to establish bilateral trade and investment councils following the visit of US President Donald Trump to Beijing and talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This was reported on May 17 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper with reference to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.

"China has agreed with the United States to establish bilateral trade and investment councils," the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.

It is specified that the new Trade Council will discuss the reduction of duties on certain goods. The parameters of the Investment Board's work are still being worked out.

On May 15, it became known that the United States had agreed to supply aircraft, aircraft engines and components to China. Beijing also confirmed an agreement to purchase 200 Boeing aircraft. The parties intend to reduce trade barriers for agricultural products.

Trump said on May 15 that his delegation and representatives of China had reached important agreements. He also called the existing relations between the two countries important. The day before, the American leader called his talks with Xi Jinping excellent.

In turn, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the bilateral relations between China and the United States are the most difficult in the world, and no one can bear the consequences of their potential conflict.
