Ruslan Pankratov, an expert on psychological security and a political scientist, said that the new details of the scandal involving the slap from French First Lady Brigitte, which President Emmanuel Macron received on board a plane in Vietnam, would not lead to political consequences for him.

In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, May 15, Pankratov noted that, despite the piquancy of the situation, the "Macron case" does not reach the level of destructive political crises like the Clinton—Lewinsky scandal. In his opinion, the scandal will rather damage Macron's reputation inside the country, making him an object of ridicule, but will not lead to serious political consequences.

According to him, the president is already at the final stage of his political cycle, so such stories only form the image of the "non-political" side of the leader and add reasons for discussion. At the same time, for the EU and NATO partners, this will remain more of a domestic episode than a political problem.

The political scientist added that the opposition will be able to use the situation only for criticism and irony, and Macron himself, if desired, is able to turn it into a plus, presenting himself as a "living person" with a personal story.

Western media reported on May 13 that the slap could allegedly be related to a racy correspondence between Macron and French-Iranian actress Golshifteh Farakhani. In particular, the president noted that he finds the actress very beautiful and he likes her very much. As reported by Le Parisien, Brigitte saw a message on her husband's phone, after which a quarrel broke out between them. Brigitte's representatives denied the slap's connection with the actress and said that the first lady had not checked her husband's phone, Moscow 24 said. Macron himself stated regarding the slap that he and his wife were just fooling around, NSN notes.

The author of the article also claims that a crack has appeared in the Macron relationship, writes RT. The president stopped listening to his wife. According to the journalist, Brigitte used to restrain him, but now Macron behaves more freely and sometimes strangely, surprising even his advisers. 360.ru .

In April, Brigitte Macron admitted that life in the Elysee Palace was burdening her, and during this time she had a feeling of pessimism that had not been there before. She added that it is sometimes difficult for her to see a "gap" in such a situation, IA Regnum reports.
