The Russian Foreign Ministry reported on the resettlement of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians in the Russian Federation

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians moved to Russia after the start of the special military operation. This was announced on May 15 by Gennady Ovechko, Director of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"After the start of the Free Movement, a significant number of Ukrainian citizens have already moved to the territory of the Russian Federation," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The representative of the Foreign Ministry clarified that these people settled in the country outside the framework of the state program for the resettlement of compatriots.

"We are talking about hundreds of thousands of people," he said.

According to the agency's interlocutor, for Ukrainians arriving on Russian territory, there is a special procedure for verifying the identity and circumstances of entry.

Revision of solidarity: Warsaw tightens rules for Ukrainians

The tension between Kiev and Warsaw is unlikely to turn into an open confrontation, but it is becoming more noticeable.

Ovechko said on May 13 that Ukrainians are still interested in moving to the territory of the Russian Federation. So, currently, according to him, thousands and tens of thousands of Ukrainians who settled in Europe after 2022 are interested in moving to Russia.
