The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) sent a company of more than 100 soldiers to attack Russian positions. The Russian army was able to repel the attack, as a result of which some of the militants were killed and some were captured. The military personnel of the Center group of forces told Izvestia about the details of the operation on May 14.

It is specified that the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine went on foot directly through the forest belt. According to Stanislav Shkalenkov, commander of the Sarmat assault battalion of the Center group, the enemy's personnel were moving "just in a crowd."

"We tried, I emphasize, to have a whole company, from 100 people. They see that they were taken out in a crowd, just a crowd," he said.

The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who surrendered after the clash were interrogated. The battalion commander personally spoke with one of them. The prisoner provided valuable information for the Russian troops, and also said that he had been sent to the troops as part of forced mobilization.

"I asked who he was and where he came from. How did it happen that he ended up there," said Shkalenkov.

In response, the prisoner said that he had been taken into the army "from the street" and forcibly joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but he himself did not want to take part in hostilities. According to the military, the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine receive minimal weapons and small supplies of provisions, after which they are sent to the next attack attempts.

According to him, such large-scale attacks represent an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to do at least something. At the same time, the leadership of the Ukrainian army has no desire for ordinary soldiers, Gerasimov said.

"With the appearance of vegetation, the assault operations intensified on both sides. Everyone is waiting for a certain weather to make another breakthrough attempt. it is changeable now, because the sun was still shining the day before, there was no wind, and today there are clouds and a squally wind.
