Russia's actions at the UN have shown that Moscow is the guarantor of security in the crisis in the Middle East. This was stated on May 13 by Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Security Council Ali Bagheri at a meeting with Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Alexander Venediktov.

"In this context, we note that your country's smart position on vetoing the draft resolution [of the United States in the UN Security Council], which was aimed at encouraging instability, shows that Russia acts as a guarantor of security," TASS quoted him as saying.

Bagheri noted that the resolute position of the Russian Federation has shown in practice that Moscow, relying on international law, will not allow the world to be turned into a jungle.

Bagheri heads the Iranian delegation at the meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

On April 28, the Deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Reza Talai-Nika, said that his country was ready to share its experience of confrontation with Washington not only with Asian states, but also with all SCO members. At the same time, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who arrived in St. Petersburg a day earlier to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, called Moscow a strategic partner of Tehran.
