"The story of a childhood", 12+

Directed by Soyzhin Zhambalova. Starring: Varvara Pakhomova, Tatiana Veselkina, Anna Taratorkina, Marianna Ilyina, Diana Morozova.
The production is based on the authentic memoirs of the children's writer and outstanding teacher Elizabeth Vodovozova, a contemporary of Ivan Turgenev and Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin. The poignant family saga immerses in the life of serf Russia through the prism of a heightened child's perception. Little Liza's life fluctuates between bright memories of her father, a theater-goer, and the harsh realities of the Smolny boarding school, which became a place of torment for her after her mother's estrangement. Historical milestones — the abolition of serfdom and Ushinsky's reforms — are intertwined here with the dialogue of the epochs: a girl from 2026 looks into the windows of the past, asking sharp questions about freedom, slave consciousness and the recognition of women's rights.
