Strawberries in mid-May are sold in Russian retail chains at a price of about 800 rubles per 1 kg. This is 28% cheaper than in April, when 1 kg cost from 1,120 rubles. This was announced on May 13 by the head of the Association of Omnichannel Retail Companies (ACORT). Stanislav Bogdanov.

"The minimum prices for strawberries in mid—May in retail chains start from 800 rubles per kg," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Experts attribute the price reduction to the appearance of the first domestic crop on the shelves and an increase in supply. Currently, the share of Russian strawberries in the chains reaches 40%, and this figure will increase by the beginning of summer. The demand for berries in Russia is steadily growing: It is estimated that the annual increase is 8-12%.

On May 6, the national Union of milk Producers Soyuzmoloko reported that the Russian cheese market was faced with a situation where, with stable demand, manufacturers' warehouses were overflowing with products. Cheese production in the first quarter increased by 3% and amounted to 210.2 thousand tons.
