In the first four months of 2026, 2,116 road accidents were registered in Moscow, which is 10.3% less than in the same period last year. The Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced this in the Maks messenger on May 12.
As a result of these accidents, 62 people were killed and 2,461 people were injured. In the first case, the number decreased by 8.8% year—on-year, and in the second - by 8.1%.
The Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate urged drivers to be attentive and careful behind the wheel and not to create emergency situations.
"Remember that not only your life and health depend on your skills, driving experience, well—being, law-abiding driving behavior and good technical condition of the vehicle, but also the lives and health of other road users, including your passengers," the department noted.
Earlier that day, it was reported that on May 12, a decree came into force changing the procedure for conducting and passing driver's license exams. In particular, the time limits during which graduates of driving schools are allowed to take the driver's license exams have changed.
