Istvan Kapitan appointed Minister of Economy and Energy of Hungary
Istvan Kapitan has been appointed Minister of Economy and Energy of Hungary. This was announced on May 12 at the announcement ceremony of the ministers of the new Tisa party government.
"Mr. Istvan Kapitan is proclaimed Minister of Economy and Energy," said the host of the ceremony.
Kapitan was appointed by President Tamas Shujok, but took a photo only with Prime Minister Peter Magyar.
It also became known from the broadcast that the former head of the Hungarian General Staff, Romulus Rusin-Sendy, was confirmed as the country's Minister of Defense. He also, like the others, took the document from President Shujok's hands, but refused to be photographed with it.
Anita Orban, the candidate for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, said on May 11 that the new Hungarian government intends to reduce dependence on Russia in the energy sector, but does not plan to abandon supplies of Russian oil and gas in the near future. She added that the country would not abandon Russian energy sources, but intended to diversify its sources of supply.
In addition, Anita Orban said on the same day that the new Hungarian government does not intend to send military and weapons to Kiev. It will also not participate in the provision of a loan from the European Union (EU) in the amount of €90 billion to this country.
