Lukashenko announced a targeted mobilization of the Belarusian Armed Forces
The armed forces of Belarus will be precisely mobilized to prepare for possible armed conflicts. This was announced by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko on May 12.
"As I promised, we will precisely mobilize the units in order to prepare them for war. God grant that it can be avoided," the BelTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying.
He stressed that the army exists precisely to protect the country in case of possible conflicts. At the same time, Lukashenko recalled that Belarus adheres to the peaceful settlement of misunderstandings between the parties.
On May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, congratulating Lukashenko on Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), expressed appreciation for Minsk's contribution to ensuring the defense capability of the Union State. The President of Russia also conveyed his warmest congratulations to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Belarus, as well as words of deep appreciation, wishes for good health, mental vigor and longevity.
