A Norwegian schoolboy discovered an ancient Viking sword

In Norway, a six-year-old child found a Viking sword during a school trip. This was reported on May 9 by the publication Ancient Origins.

The boy Henrik Refsnes Mortvedt went with the class to a field in the Brandbu area. There he noticed a rusty metal object sticking out of the ground, pulled it out and attracted the attention of adults. The teachers contacted the local archaeologists. Experts have confirmed that this is a single-edged sword from the beginning of the Viking Age, about 1.3 thousand years old.

The artifact has been sent to the Cultural and Historical Museum in Oslo. There it will be studied and then put on display.
