Snowfall and gusty winds have de-energized tens of thousands of Russians in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Urals

The Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug — Yugra (Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug) was hit by a blizzard accompanied by a squally wind, which caused power outages there and imposed restrictions on the movement of all types of transport. Footage of bad weather on May 10 is published by Izvestia.

"A temporary traffic restriction has been introduced for all types of vehicles. Work is underway to clear snow from highways to ensure traffic safety. <...> There are reports of individual power outages in a number of settlements," Ruslan Kukharuk, the governor of the region, wrote on his Telegram channel.

He added that emergency crews have already started work to eliminate the consequences of bad weather. The governor clarified that specialists from different departments are in close cooperation with each other.

Kuharuk appealed to the residents with a request to be understanding of the measures being taken. He urged Russians on the way to be extremely careful: strictly observe the speed limit and not stay under shaky structures.

The video, which turned out to be in the possession of Izvestia, captures almost deserted and snow-covered streets. In some cars, trees can be seen felled by strong air currents.

On April 27, the governor of the Volgograd Region, Georgy Filimonov, announced that more than 25,000 residents of his region were left without electricity due to very heavy snowfall. It was noted that such effects from weather conditions were detected in 689 settlements. 44 power engineering teams with a total of 144 people, as well as 49 pieces of equipment, were involved in the elimination of accidents.
